Categories: East Sheen,East Sheen News,News

Hammersmith Bridge will be closed to vehicles at times between Saturday 10 and Sunday 18 February for essential maintenance. The closures will be completed in stages to minimise impacts. You can find detailed information about this on the TfL website but here’s the gist:

Saturday 10 until Monday 12 February

  • The bridge will be closed daily in both directions from 08:00 until 18:00
  • Route 72 will be diverted via Lonsdale Road, Barnes Bridge station, Mortlake, Chiswick Bridge and A4 West Road
  • Some route 72 buses from Roehampton may finish south of the bridge at Castelnau, near Lonsdale Road and not continue to Hammersmith or East Acton

Tuesday 13 until Friday 16 February

  • The bridge will be closed to northbound traffic from 08:00 until 18:00
  • Some route 72 buses to East Action will be diverted via Lonsdale Road, Barnes Bridge station, Mortlake, Chiswick Bridge and A4 West Road
  • Buses towards Roehampton will operate as normal

The bridge will also be closed in both directions from 08:00 on Saturday 17 until 18:00 on Sunday 18 February. Most buses on route 72 will be diverted via Lonsdale Road, Barnes Bridge station, Mortlake, Chiswick Bridge and A4 West Road.

From 10 February until 18 February, routes 33, 209, 419 and 485 will start/finish south of the bridge and not serve Hammersmith Bridge Road or Hammersmith bus station.

Cyclists will be able to cross the bridge if they dismount. Pedestrians will be able to cross the bridge as normal throughout the works. One footway will be open during the works. A safe walking route will be clearly signposted.
