Richmond Park Academy increases its Level 9/ A* performance by 27.5%

Categories: East Sheen,East Sheen News,News

RPA is pleased to announce its provisional GCSE results which show good outcomes in some key areas including:
  • A 27.5% increase in the number of  the very top grades of 9 or A* achieved across the school
  • 100% pass rate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology
  • A solid increase in the standard pass rate achieved in English which is 19% above the national average
  • A year on year improvement in its Ebacc outcomes
Reflecting on the results Paul Mundy-Castle commented on the challenging new reformed GCSEs and the number of end of year exams that students had to experience for the first time. “We have maintained the good progress from last year and we forecast that our progress and headline outcomes will remain in line with national outcomes. Looking at where the school was 2 years ago it is pleasing that we continue with the turnaround. I want to thank the students and staff for their hard work and wish all our year 11s success in their next steps.”
A number of RPA students achieved outstanding outcomes including:

Eleanor Crump
Seven grade 9s, one grade 8 and one grade 7
Ellie was delighted with her results and is now planning for sixth form studying biology, chemistry, maths and history with the longer term goal of studying medicine in the army. Ellie has been at Richmond Park Academy since Year 7 and said, “the school has gone from strength to strength since Year 7 and the teachers during Year 11 have been really supportive.”
Robert Hilder
One A grade, three grades 8s and four grade 7s
Robert, who will start A levels in biology, chemistry and psychology in September said, “GCSEs start in quite a relaxed way and then reality bites! However, the results are definitely worth the effort. So many of the teachers were really passionate about their subject and added a whole range of extra steps and different approaches to their teaching that made a huge difference.”
Levi Djanogly
One A grade, three grades 8s and three grade 7s
Levi will be studying psychology, English, philosophy and history in the Richmond Park Academy 6th form. Like Ellie, he has been at Richmond Park Academy for 5 years and said, “It is a warm and welcoming environment with great teachers.”
