Fran Miller invites you to a sale of pottery by Sean Miller (firsts and seconds).
Sean Miller became interested in slipware while he was at Harrow on the Studio Pottery course. He was attracted by the warmth of the colour, and the interaction between clay and slip. To get ideas he visited ceramic collections in France, Hungary and Roumania.
His pots are first produced on the wheel, then decorated with coloured slips. After a first firing they are glazed and fired a second time to a temperature of 1060℃ in an electric kiln. In 2011 he built a wood-fired kiln which he fires several times a year.
He set up my first workshop in 1991 and decided to concentrate on functional work. In 2005 he moved with my family to Brittany and in August 2008 he opened his workshop and gallery in Peillac.
Sean Miller is a member of the Craft Potters Association, Ateliers d’Art de France and Argile Bretagne.
