An Outstanding Ofsted Rating for Next Step Holiday Activities

Categories: East Sheen,East Sheen News,News

Congratulations to Next Step Holiday Activities who have been awarded an Outstanding rating by Ofsted in every category. The inspired and dedicated team at NS Holiday have been running holiday activities for boys and girls aged 4-11 years at East Sheen Primary School for the past few years.

The NS Holiday team is dedicated to ensuring your child is safe and having the best time away from school. They are delighted to report that following their recent Ofsted inspection carried out on Friday 27th October 2017, Next Step Holiday Activities has been judged “Outstanding” in every category: the effectiveness of the leadership and management, the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, as well as personal development, behaviour and welfare.

The inspection was carried out with less than a day’s notice and followed a revised and tougher framework for the early years. “We are delighted that the inspection took place and are ecstatic with the outcome” – said Director & Coach Scott Hunter. “The inspector loved spending the day at our setting and couldn’t speak highly enough of our staff, the children, the school and parents. The feedback we have received reinforces our beliefs and approach and will serve us well in continuing to make NS Holiday Activities the best place for children to come and enjoy their play.”

Here are some key points of the report findings:

  • “Children flourish in the welcoming, challenging and extremely well-organised environment. They enthusiastically join in with activities, are incredibly confident and develop exceptional social skills as they form positive relationships with the staff and other children. “
  • “Children enjoy a wide variety of exciting play activities. They are encouraged to play a big part in planning the activities together with staff. For example, children put forward their play ideas and suggestions for the club. Their views about what works well or could be better are highly valued and taken into account. “
  • “Staff benefit from exceptional opportunities for their professional development, ensuring they have the skills to meet the children’s needs highly effectively. The manager expertly monitors and evaluates the club, and constantly develops it to reflect the needs of the children and their families.“
  •  “The manager and staff promote continuity for children very successfully. Strong and secure relationships with local schools aid this process. There is effective and highly efficient information sharing to ensure that staff get to know the children exceptionally well and understand how best to meet their needs.”

The Next Step Holiday Activities team run camps during the school holidays.  This winter, there are two days of seasonal fun: Friday 22nd December and Tuesday 2nd of January at East Sheen Primary School. Both days offer two programmes: the football-oriented NS Strikers and NS Stars offering art and crafts, discos and sports. Book via the NSSport website www.nssport.co.uk for a standard or extended day.
