Scott Hunter, Sam Dunn, Mike Ward and Jack Server are men on a mission – to inspire primary aged children to develop a passion for health and fitness through innovative activities and unique approaches, in school, after school, at weekends and during the holidays.
With over 40 years’ combined sports teaching experience, an impressive array of coaching, safeguarding and first aid qualifications and success in taking schools to borough, county and regional sporting success, there’s little doubt that they’re the men for the job.
The foursome established Next Steps Sport (NSSport) in 2015 and East Sheen Primary School is one of their two main bases. Whilst term-time activities and after school clubs are limited to pupils in the schools in which they teach, their popular holiday courses and Saturday activities are open to all and there’s plenty of fun to be had for girls and boys aged 4 to 11 years old. In addition, NSSport can also provide birthday parties – taking the strain for you!
Whether or not your youngster is sports crazy, NSSport is fully inclusive and aims to help them find the sport or activity they enjoy the most, whilst at the same time making friends and having the best fun possible.
Scott says, “It’s so fulfilling to see children developing in their chosen sport and playing with a smile. It’s a win-win for children and parents; through being active children maintain their physical, emotional and social development and parents have the reassurance of knowing their kids are safe and having fun in a friendly and supportive, Ofsted approved environment.”
What holiday activities are on offer?
NSSport’s holiday activities divide into two categories – NS Stars and NS Strikers – that are, in turn, divided into age groups. You can book by the day (09:45 to 16:15) or for an entire week and extended days are available (08:00 to 18:00), as are mornings or afternoons only. Holiday Activities for 2017 will run throughout the summer holidays and also during October half term and the Christmas holidays.
NS Stars – perfect for youngsters who want to stay active and love fun and variety in their days! This programme allows children to explore a wide range of sports, indulge in free play, get stuck into craft, design and drama and fire up their imaginations. There will be themed days and lots of laughter. It’s Little Stars for 4 & 5 year olds, Shining Stars for 6 & 7 year olds and Shooting Stars for 8 to 11 year olds!
NS Strikers – here the focus is on football, capturing their imagination for the game and developing skills and helping them reach whatever level they aspire to! There will be “World Cup” competitions and lots to inspire them. Premier Strikers are 4-6 years old, Champions are 7 & 8 years and World Strikers are 9 to 11 years old.
Exercise well and eat well, too.
This Summer NSSport is launching a Healthy Eating campaign for NS Stars and NS Strikers. It’s a great idea that aims to teach kids about a healthy balanced diet and keep their diets on track during the holidays when it’s easy to let things slide towards a treat based lunch!
There will be a lunchbox challenge each week and, water being the most healthy option for keeping hydrated, each child who spends a day at NSSport will receive a free, branded water bottle.
NSSport offer great fun, tailor-made parties for 4 to 11 year olds, too. These can be at home or at another venue of your choice.
Simply pick the sport or theme you’d like to base the party around and they’ll do the rest – simple! Prices from £90 and for up to 20 children (more upon request). Venue hire may be arranged at an extra cost if required. Why not let NSSport take the strain?
When the weekend comes around… this is where young football fiends should be!
NSSport’s Saturday Strikers offers boys and girls aged 4-9 years old a fun and enjoyable start to their footballing journey through Saturday Strikers. It is aimed to be an introduction to football and each week different activities will help enhance your child’s learning of the beautiful game. Activities are tailored to children’s ages and needs, introducing them to a competitive environment without ever putting them under stress or pressure. NSSport follows the national governing bodies’ approach in this and ensure the game is coached the right way.

Having NSSport as an option throughout the school holidays is fantastic… they genuinely care for my children’s safety and wellbeing and treat them as individuals, which is great.
