Spending a penny will soon cost twenty in Richmond Park

Categories: East Sheen,East Sheen News,News

loosYou’ll soon need to spend more than a penny in order to spend a penny when nature calls in Richmond Park.

In fact, in a number of the Park’s main toilet facilities, a visit will cost you 20p with effect from 23 March, 2015. This is in response to cuts in funding from central government.

royal parks logoWork is already underway to install change machines and access gates in the following facilities:

  • Kingston Gate
  • Ham Gate
  • Richmond Gate
  • Robin Hood Gate
  • Sheen Gate

The facilities at Isabella Plantation, Petersham Playground and Roehampton Gate may still be used free of charge and the toilets at Pembroke Lodge are “outside of the contract” which, we assume, means that they will remain free. Accessible facilities used by people with disabilities  will remain free to use.

Royal Parks will use the money raised to upkeep the toilet facilities which they might otherwise have to close.
