Have you thought about doing your commute on an electric bike but not sure if it would work for you? Or taking your children to school in a cargo bike? Thanks to a new council scheme, Richmond residents can now try a bike for a monthly fee from £10 for kids bikes, £20 for adult bikes, £50 for electric and £100 for cargo and adaptable bikes.
If you choose to keep the bike then the council scheme means you can pay in monthly installments, interest free. They can also be paid for through the Cycle to Work scheme. Up to three months’ trial fees will be refunded if you buy the bike. At the end of the trial, it will be collected for free if you decide it’s not for you. Customers are given cycle skills training, and maintenance and theft cover are available.
For businesses, there are several types of electric cargo bikes available in the scheme. These can make deliveries easier, quicker and carbon-neutral, as well as avoiding the traffic jams caused by the current amount of motor traffic. Electric business cargo bikes cost from £200 per month to trial and retail from £2500 – £5500. Delivery time can take up to 8 weeks.
You can order a bicycle to try directly on the Peddle My Wheels website. To choose the right cargo bike for your family or business, email email@example.com your requirements and they will respond with suitable options.
