Local mum and primary music specialist Tesia Harrison set up Music Maestros with the intention of bringing more music into local schools and the wider community. She currently runs a school orchestra, a Mini Maestros group for complete beginner musicians and Colourstrings music at a local school and nursery.
Colourstrings is a method of teaching that follows the Kodály principles of music. It is a superb way of introducing children to music in a fun way, developing the core principles of pulse, rhythm and tonality through singing, games, movement and percussion instruments.
Colourstrings music classes will be starting for pre-school children (aged 6 months–4 years old) after half term at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church hall on Tuesday 1st November while the free trial classes will be held on Tuesday 18th October.
